Applications are invited from experienced and innovative candidates to join two Nazareth Parish Schools as a Psychologist/Counsellor commencing early Term 1 (negotiable). The position is located at Nazareth Catholic Primary School Grovedale and Lisieux Catholic Primary School Torquay North. The position is for a fixed term contract for 2021, with the possibility of continuing in 2022.

<p>The role of the psychologist/counsellor is to support F - 6 students to achieve cognitive, emotional, social, physical and spiritual wellbeing. The psychologist plays an integral part in the holistic approach to education at Nazareth Catholic Primary School and Lisieux Catholic Primary School. They are part of the Student Support Services Team. They support the school and teachers in the identification and development of educational, social and emotional programs providing prevention, intervention and post-intervention strategies. The Psychologist conducts Functional Behaviour Analysis (FBA) to inform interventions and management plans such as Behaviour Support Plans. They also design and implement school-based individualised treatment plans liaising with the students&#39; care team (such as teachers, speech pathologists, occupational therapists and families) around the assessment feedback, intervention strategies and progress.</p><p>Nazareth and Lisieux have a commitment to child safety, with a Catholic ethos and the intent to place students at the centre of all we do. The psychologist&#39;s expertise will complement and enhance the work of teachers to strengthen student learning and wellbeing outcomes. </p><p>The position is 0.8 - 1.0 (negotiable). Provisional psychologists are welcome to apply. </p><p><b>Key Selection Criteria</b></p><ul><li>Experience in the development and implementation of evidence-based assessment and interventions for children and young people with ASD and/or mental health concerns to address their social, emotional and educational needs.<br /></li><li>Demonstrate well-developed communication, networking and interpersonal skills working as part of a collaborative professional team.<br /></li><li>Ability to deliver a comprehensive psychology service to both schools, including counselling and referral for students and families.</li><li>Capacity to apply highly developed assessment, conceptual and analytical skills</li><li>Capacity to deliver recommendations around best practice interventions for students with a diagnosis of ASD, ID, anxiety and other diverse needs<br /></li><li>Experience with Restorative Practices and Zones of Regulation</li></ul><p><b>The role is inclusive of;</b></p><ul><li>Conducting screenings and diagnostic evaluations</li><li>Working with children with diverse needs, from mild or moderate to severe and/or multiple disorders.</li><li>Providing services for an individual, small-group, or classroom basis to F - 6 students</li><li>Facilitating small group proactive programs for students to assist with the development of social and emotional regulation</li><li>Providing counselling services for F - 6 students</li><li>Collaborating with and training other professionals and parents to facilitate students&#39; academic, communication, and social skills in an educational environment.</li><li>Serving on program planning and teacher assistance teams.</li><li>Writing reports and participating in annual review conferences.</li><li>Supporting teachers in the development and implementation of Personalised Learning Plans</li><li>Completing documentation as required by federal, state, and local agencies</li><li>Actively participate in Student Support Services Team Meetings, Feedback meetings, Learning Support Officer Team Meetings, Program Support Group Meetings (if required and/or where possible)</li><li>Organising and providing reports to present at Feedback Meetings</li><li>Referring parents and students to relevant professionals or community agencies as appropriate</li><li>Serving as a consultant to other educators and related professionals</li><li>Liaising with community service organizations, DHHS, hospitals and other professionals regarding student needs</li><li>Collecting, collating and maintaining relevant NCCD evidence</li><li>Supervising support personnel in the school.</li><li>First aid/yard supervision duties as required</li></ul><p><b>The Psychologist will be trained in a variety of areas and may be in a position in a generalist role or may specialise in a particular area, for example:-  </b></p><ul><li>Assessment and management of learning and social and emotional disorders including: </li><li>Apply psychological expertise to enhance and support the cognitive, emotional, social, physical and spiritual wellbeing of students  </li><li>Support the school leadership team to build and sustain a strong culture of wellbeing  </li><li>Provide counselling using evidence-based interventions to improve the wellbeing of students  </li><li>Undertake cognitive, emotional and behavioural assessment to contribute to the development of appropriate school-based support for students  </li><li>Work collaboratively with learning and support teams, parents and carers, and other agencies, to enhance learning and wellbeing outcomes for students  </li><li>Provide education to students, families, the community and other staff members</li><li>Provide standard clinical professional services to students within the parameters of school policy and guidelines</li><li>Provide standard professional services at an experienced level within defined organisational parameters</li></ul><p>Registration with AHPRA is essential.</p><p><b>Salary Level</b></p><p>The salary is in accordance with Level ESB 4/1 - ESB 4/6 of the Victorian Catholic Education Multi-Education Agreement 2018, commencing on a salary of $79,789 - $98,883 per annum (FTE), working during school term time only and includes paid school holidays.</p><p><b>To apply</b></p><p>Please provide a letter of application, resume and names of at least three referees to Mrs Marcelle Wrigley, mwrigley&#64;nsgrovedale.catholic.edu.au</p>
