Good Shepherd Primary is a two stream Parish school situated 10 minutes from Liverpool. The school can be easily accessed from the M5 and M7 Motorways. In addition to our 15 mainstream classes, there is a Specialist Support Class catering to students with moderate intellectual disabilities. Currently the class caters to under 10 students. We are seeking a passionate, experienced and fully qualified Special Education teacher to continue to broaden the Mission of Catholic education in South West Sydney. The primary role of the teacher at the Good Shepherd Specialist Support Class is to support the development and delivery of quality teaching and learning practices across all Key Learning Areas. The teacher would offer a multi-disciplinary, student centred approach through the establishment of high quality teaching programs within the Catholic school context.

<p><i>The successful applicant will be required to have the following formal qualifications:</i></p><ul><li>Undergraduate teaching qualifications</li><li>NESA accreditation</li><li>Accreditation in accordance with the Archdiocesan Policy to Work, Teach and Lead in a Catholic School - Category D</li><li><i>Working With Children</i> Check</li></ul><p><i>We prefer the successful applicant to also have the following desired qualifications:</i></p><ul><li>Post-graduate qualifications in Special/Inclusive education</li></ul><p><i>Applications will be considered based on the following levels of experience:</i></p><ul><li>Successful experience in working with students with moderate intellectual disability and other complex learning needs</li><li>Ability and capacity to program, plan, implement and manage individual programs for students with disabilities</li><li>Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to engage students, parents and outside agencies</li><li>Demonstrated ability and capacity to work cooperatively and productively as part of a team of educators and allied health professionals</li><li>Engagement and contribution to the life and mission of the Catholic Church and commitment to the Catholic ethos of education</li></ul><p><i>Applicants will require the following essential knowledge and competencies:</i></p><ul><li>Deep knowledge of curriculum delivery and assessment practices with a willingness to meet the needs of students with complex learning needs K-6</li><li>Capacity to integrate a range of assistive technologies in planning for, and implementing, classroom and individualised programs for students with special learning needs</li><li>Proven ability to provide a safe learning environment that promotes student engagement and self confidence in learning</li></ul>
