St Bede’s High School, Chisholm is seeking a temporary part-time (25 hours/week) Food Technology Assistant working 25 hours/week to join the school community commencing in Term 1, 2021. St Bede’s Catholic College, in the recently-established suburb of Chisholm, is a new co-educational Catholic secondary school that is part of the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle. The College opened in 2018 and will eventually cater for 1,100 students in Years 7 to 12. In 2021 the College will have approximately 540 Year 7-10 students, with the first Year 12 cohort to graduate in 2023. The key components that drive the development of the school are Courage, Knowledge, Community and Faith. These components align to the four domains of the College’s Strategic Plan – Catholic Formation and Mission, Learning and Teaching, Leadership, Wellbeing and Partnerships.

The position of Food Technology Assistant is responsible for: <br>• ensuring the general cleanliness, tidiness and smooth operation of the kitchen on a daily basis; <br>• setup for Food Technology practical and demonstration lessons; <br>• maintaining equipment, resources and accurate kitchen documentation for the Food and Hospitality Faculty; <br>• monitoring and controlling stock; <br>• use of computer-based information sources to manage ordering, stock control and WH&amp;S requirements; <br>• Manage the organisation and preparation of chemicals and equipment for Science activities and across the School where required; <br>• Prepare, provide and store equipment and resources for practical work for science classes and ensuring gear is cleaned and in good working order, organising repairs as necessary. <br> <h3>Essential Criteria:</h3> <br> • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and to actively supporting the Catholic ethos and culture of the school; <br>• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate with school staff, students and the community; <br>• Demonstrate an innovative and agile mindset that supports and enhances a culture of continuous improvement within the school environment; <br>• Demonstrated knowledge of current food safety practices and standards; <br>• Ability to maintain equipment, resources and accurate kitchen documentation for Food Technology and Hospitality; <br>• Demonstrated ability to maintain a safe working environment; <br>• Demonstrated experience in food handling and preparation; <br>• Excellent organisational skills that would allow for the timely ordering of equipment and the preparation of apparatus and solutions; The applicant must provide evidence of the following: <br>• Current First Aid Certificate; <br>• Current Paid Working with Children Check (WWCC)number; <br>• Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate. <br> <h3>Desirable Criteria:</h3> <br> <br> <h3>Renumeration:</h3> <br> Salary is in accordance with New South Wales &amp; Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2017. <br> <h3>Additional Info:</h3> <br> To apply: Please provide a cover letter (maximum 3 pages) addressing the selection criteria along with your resume to the Principal, John Murphy, via an email to Joanne West at joanne.west@mn.catholic.edu.au Not adequately addressing the selection criteria may result in your application not being shortlisted Applications close: Monday 14th December, 2020. 3.00pm <br> <a href="https://www.mn.catholic.edu.au/employment/positions-vacant/job/9787/" target="_blank">More Information</a>
