School girl is at the heart of everything we do. <br /><br /><b>About the position:<br /></b><br />The Assistant Head of Senior School - Academic Care and Administration is a new position to be introduced to the Senior School in 2021.  As a member of the Senior School’s Leadership Team, the role reports to the Head of Senior School, and works closely with the Assistant Head of Senior School – Pastoral Care and Wellbeing and the Head of Learning and Teaching to ensure an holistic approach to the care of each student.  </p><p>The prime responsibility of the Assistant Head of Senior School – Academic Care and Administration is to oversee the day-to-day academic care for students from Year 7 to Year 12 and ensure that all academic documentation, administration and compliance is completed to the highest standard.  Further, they will provide leadership and mentorship to the Heads of Department (HoDs) to maintain a culture of continuous improvement regarding academic results to ensure every girl achieves her best.</p><p>The Assistant Head of Senior School – Academic Care and Administration also fulfils the duties of the Coordinator of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program and in this role reports directly to the Principal.<br />The focus of the role is threefold:<br /></p><ul><li>to develop and implement an academic care framework for students from Year 7 to Year 12 – including supporting their day-to-day academic care – while working closely with the Head of Senior School, the Assistant Head of Senior School – Pastoral Care and Wellbeing and the Head of Learning and Teaching;</li><li>manage and coordinate the curriculum for Years 7 to 12 including coordinating the IB Diploma Program;</li><li>manage, develop and support of the Heads of Department, working closely with the Head of Teaching and Learning to achieve teaching excellence for the HoDs and their departments, but also to mentor them in their ongoing professional growth and support them in the effective management of their departments.  </li></ul><p>The role attracts a 0.3FTE teaching load and 0.7FTE release.<br /><br /><b>About you:<br /></b><br />You will bring a passion for and strong focus on the academic care, people management and professional development aspects of the role, including monitoring and managing performance issues directly. </p><p>You will be able to utilise effective communication and liaison strategies to ensure the provision of excellent customer service and the appropriate management of parent expectations as well as a collaborative approach with the Assistant Head of Senior School – Pastoral Care and Wellbeing to ensure that each student from Years 7 – 12 is cared for in a holistic sense throughout her time at MLC School.  </p><p>You also have demonstrated capacity and the capability to mentor and develop the Heads of Department into leaders at the School including performance improvement, as well as supporting the professional development of the academic staff more generally. </p><p>Experience coordinating the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program and administrative processes involved in the IB DP is desirable. <br /><br /><b>Essential Skills, Experience and Knowledge required:</b></p><ul><li>Tertiary qualifications in education and minimum of Proficient Teacher Accreditation (NSW) or equivalent</li><li>Experience as a Classroom Teacher</li><li>Demonstrated experience in leading change in pedagogical practice</li><li>Experience in leading and managing staff to improve pedagogical practice and develop leadership capacity</li><li>Demonstrated ability to use data to inform the learning and teaching process and track student growth across a variety of domains using both standardised and school-based data</li><li>Demonstrated expertise in managing the administration and compliance requirements of curriculum for NESA, the IBO or other relevant regulatory bodies (Desirable)</li><li>Demonstrated experience in managing complex relationships with the broader School community</li><li>Working with Children Check clearance number must be provided as part of this application<br
