Teachers within the Diocese are responsible to the Principal and shares in the learning and teaching of subject matters to students of the school community. Teachers are responsible for delivering high quality contemporary learning and teaching for the community they serve which is embedded in the Catholic world view. It is a collaborative ministry of witness and service and part of the evangelising mission of the Church.

<p>The Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta is looking for a skilled, contemporary and passionate Secondary Teacher to be part of our school community and enrich the lives of our students.</p> <p>Penola Catholic College is a dynamic learning community focusing on 21<sup>st</sup> century teaching and learning in a 7-12 co-educational context.&nbsp;&nbsp; We are seeking a dynamic teacher with a passion and love of teaching for Mathematics.</p> <p>The position is permanent full-time to commence 27 January 2021.</p> <p><strong>Key focus areas</strong></p> <p>The Secondary Teacher will fit the following criteria:</p> <p>-Extensive pedagogical knowledge base and understanding of how the identified subject areas are learned, what affects students’ opportunities to learn the subject matter and how the learning and teaching of the subject matter can be enhanced.</p> <p>-Understanding of how to differentiate learning to cater for students needs in order to maximise student learning.</p> <p>-Sound understanding of the learning environments, lesson plans, use of technology, teaching practices and delivery of assessment and learning feedback.</p> <p>-Committed to the continual improvement of their teaching practice and take opportunities for personal professional development.</p> <p>-Work creatively and constructively within a range of 'communities' inside and beyond the school and set high, achievable goals for themselves and their students.</p> <p>-Able to motivate students to achieve and to develop a life-long love of learning.</p> <p><strong>The successful candidate will also possess the following skills and/or experience:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Thorough understanding of Mathematics syllabus (7-12) and ability to teach Years 7-12</li> <li>Appropriate qualifications in secondary Mathematics</li> <li>Strong communication, and interpersonal skills</li> <li>Ability to work in close collaboration with the Mathematics KLA Team to design high-quality student-centred learning and assessment activities</li> <li>Desire to be part of an innovative and highly collaborative KLA team</li> <li>Confident in differentiating the curriculum to meet a diverse range of learning needs.</li> </ul> <p>Desirable:</p> <ul> <li>Preferred experience in teaching Stage 6 Mathematics</li> <li>Essential qualifications in Secondary teaching Mathematics</li> <li>Marking, judging and/or assessing experience would be highly valved but not essential</li> <li>Experience designing innovative formative assessment for Years 7-9</li> </ul> <p>Please respond to the above selection criteria in your cover letter.</p> <p>Please include two professional referees with your resume.</p> <p><strong>The Organisation</strong></p> <p dir="ltr">Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta provides quality learning and teaching in a faith-centred environment across 83 primary and secondary schools and within early learning and out of school hours care centres in Western Sydney.&nbsp;</p> <p dir="ltr">This position involves working with children.
