St Mary’s Catholic College, Gateshead, is seeking a permanent, full time Technology and Applied Sciences Coordinator to join the College community commencing Term 1, 2021. St Mary’s Catholic College, Gateshead, is a co-educational Year 7 to 12 College founded in the finest tradition of the Josephite sisters. It is recognised and acclaimed as a safe, welcoming, caring and disciplined community. In 2018-2019, the College transitioned to Stage 6. The construction of state of the art TAS facilities accompanied this change. The skill and diversity of teaching talent within the faculty ensures the provision of excellence in teaching and learning and a wide choice of courses of study across Years 7 to 12. The College has been a leader in the teaching of STEM as evidenced by the success of the College in the National Science & Engineering Challenge in the past 15 years.

The position has a specific responsibility for the management of a TAS faculty comprising a team of seven highly skilled teachers and three support staff; the coordination of the teaching of Stage 4 to 6 courses of study and ongoing liaison with, and support for, the VET Coordinator. The TAS Coordinator is a member of the College team of Learning and Wellbeing Leaders comprising the Principal, Assistant Principals and all Coordinators. As a member of the team the person appointed to the position will be required to offer assistance and support in: <br>• the day to day operation of the School <br>• promotion of the Catholic ethos of the School <br>• the initiation of and contribution to quality teaching and learning programs <br>• the promotion of an effective pastoral care program <br>• the implementation of the School's policies and procedures <br>• the promotion of the hospitality, accessibility and visibility of the management team <br> <h3>Essential Criteria:</h3> <br> • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and the mission of the Church through Catholic schools. <br>• Ability to collaboratively lead, mentor and coach teachers to design innovative curriculum, contemporary pedagogies and wellbeing for learning practices. <br>• Ability to teach in the relevant curriculum area/s; <br>• Exemplary values and attitudes appropriate to professional practice and the intellectual, physical and social development of students; <br>• Demonstrated capacity to reflect critically upon professional practice and commitment to ongoing professional learning; <br>• Commitment and capacity to actively contribute to a broad range of school activities as a member of the school team; <br>• Use of interpersonal skills to develop positive relationships with students, school staff and the wider community; <br>• Possess high level communication skills and interpersonal skills, including empathy and confidentiality. The applicant must provide evidence of the following: <br>• Qualifications as a four year trained teacher; <br>• Current NESA Accreditation; <br>• Current Paid Working with Children Check (WWCC)number; <br>• Completion of Anaphylaxis training. <br> <h3>Desirable Criteria:</h3> <br> • Demonstrated ability and experience in teaching Construction in Stage 6 <br>• Ability to nurture a faculty team based on a high level of relational trust and collaborative professionalism <br> <h3>Renumeration:</h3> <br> Salary is in accordance with New South Wales &amp; Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2017.
