The John Berne School, a Catholic school in the Marist tradition, is seeking a Counsellor who is a registered Psychologist experienced in working with adolescents and their families 0.6 temporary position one year with potential for extension.
<p>The John Berne School, a Catholic school in the Marist tradition, is seeking a Counsellor who is a registered Psychologist experienced in working with adolescents and their families.
</p><p>Position commences 27 January, 2021
</b></p><ul><li>Experience in assessment and facilitating interventions for young people with developmental, cognitive, social or emotional needs. Specifically in the following areas: Intellectual disabilities, learning difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, ODD and trauma
</li><li>The ability to support students with attendance, safety and behaviour challenges through collaborative planning
</li><li>Experience in conducting cognitive and/or educational reports.
</li><li>Hold current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
</li><li>Hold, or be eligible for, membership with the Australian Psychological Society
</li><li>Have current knowledge of the NSW education system
</li><li>Have the ability to liaise with teachers and community agencies
</li><li>Have excellent organisational, communication and information technology skills
</b></p><ul><li>Masters of Clinical Psychology or Education/Developmental Psychology
</li><li>Understanding or experience of Positive Psychology and Trauma informed practice
</li><li>Experience with Family therapy and systemic approaches
</li><li>Experience in conducting group work
</li></ul><p>The successful applicant will maintain close communication with the families of students, as well as the School Support Team, Leadership Team and teachers.
</p><p>Applicants would need to have a willingness to become fully involved in all aspects of school life in this unique situation, including outdoor education and other programs. Preferred applicants will support the ethos of the Catholic school and Marist tradition. Child protection screening procedures apply.
