Yirralka Education at Mäpuru is seeking an Early Childhood/Primary teacher who will uphold the college’s vision ‘self-determined lives of dignity on ancestral estates’. Mäpuru Yirralka College is a newly created independent school and is governed by the elders, custodians and families of Mäpuru who make up Yirralka Education.

<p>The Early Childhood/Primary teacher will work collaboratively in a teaching team with Yolngu co-teachers (assistant teachers) to develop students’ early literacy and numeracy skills through a bi-literacy and bi-cultural (English and Djambarrpuyngu) learning program. </p><p>Teaching duties include ensuring continuity of the established class routines and pedagogies, developing and implementing teaching and learning programs, developing resources, assessing student learning and reporting to parents. You will be encouraged to develop programs collaboratively that deeply embed students within their identity alongside developing understandings of the full range of AC subject areas. The Primary classroom is staffed with 1 qualified teacher and 2 Yolngu co-teachers (assistant teachers). </p><p>The enthusiastic learners in this class range from Preschool through to Yr 6 and thrive with explicit, purposeful learning in a gentle, happy environment. </p><h5>A Rewarding Opportunity </h5><p>This is a unique opportunity to work and live in a healthy and productive remote Aboriginal community.
