The College is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced person for the role of School Counsellor to provide counselling services and work to actively support the overall wellbeing of students.

<p>St Mary Star of the Sea College is a Good Samaritan Education girls’ school for students from Years 7 to 12 located in Wollongong with a 147-year history.  Applications are invited for the position of School Counsellor (temporary, part-time fixed term maternity relief). </p><p> Reporting to the Senior Psychologist and Dean of Pastoral Care, the School Counsellor is a member of the Pastoral Care team with responsibility for: </p><ul><li>providing one-on-one counselling to students </li><li>utilising evidence based, short term counselling interventions </li><li>conducting risk assessments, safety planning and care for students at risk </li><li>liaising with staff and supporting parents about safety, risk of harm concerns and general wellbeing considerations of students </li><li>liaising with students, their families and relevant external professionals as appropriate, to provide support to meet identified needs of students </li><li>maintaining confidential client notes </li><li>attending regular meetings with the Counselling and Pastoral teams, the Dean of Pastoral Care and the Principal. </li></ul><p> A commitment to the ethos and mission of St Mary Star of the Sea College is essential.
