The role of the Learning Mentor is centred around providing additional assistance and guidance with student learning in the subjects of English and Mathematics.

The role of the Learning Mentor is centred around providing additional assistance and guidance with student learning in the subjects of English and Mathematics. </p><p> Applications are invited from qualified and experienced or beginning classroom teachers, with the ability to teach across a number of different subject areas, considered an advantage. The Learning Mentor should be viewed as someone who is interested in both a student’s academic growth and personal development.   </p><p> This is a full-time, leave replacement position, commencing 27 January 2021 until 11 July 2021. Consideration will also be given to part-time applications working over five days per week. The successful applicant will demonstrate a passion for engaging and challenging students. The position would suit a generalist primary trained teacher with commitment to developing differentiated learning programs and supporting student growth, or a secondary trained English or Mathematics teachers with a commitment to teaching in the junior year levels. An ability to teach junior Religious Education and Health and Physical Education would be an advantage.  <br /></p><p>Learning Mentors’ key responsibilities will include: <br /></p><ul><li> Differentiating learning activities to suit individual learning styles with an emphasis of improving literacy and numeracy skills. </li><li> Assisting students in the setting of personal and academic goals related to English and Mathematics. </li><li> Developing a Learner Profile on each student. </li><li> Monitoring student progression in English and Mathematics. </li><li> Actively collaborating with the English and Mathematics Subject Teachers and Tutor Teachers in relation to student learning and personal development.  </li><li> Effectively utilising the data available to them to help support each student’s learning.  </li><li>Assessing and reporting on the elements of the Capabilities that are common to both English and Mathematics. <br /></li><li> Engaging parents/guardians in their son’s education by maintaining a regular correspondence. </li></ul><p><b>Attributes</b><br /></p><p>The successful applicant will demonstrate a passion for engaging and challenging students.
