<p><b>(Permanent, Full-time, Term time only) </b></p><p>A Teaching Assistant supports teaching and learning, both within the classroom and beyond. A successful Teaching Assistant is responsive, agile and creative – mindful of the classroom teacher’s role and responsibilities, but having the capacity to build on, support and add value to the learning and wellbeing of our children. Their role includes supporting active play and working on projects that build connection and belonging across the School.<br /></p><p>For all initiatives that occur within collaborative open spaces and within the classrooms, pertaining to teaching and learning, the role reports to the Head of Curriculum K-6 (PYP Coordinator). For other matters such as supporting play outside of the classroom they report to the Head of Junior School. <br /></p><p>Currently this role works full time hours in term time only, with Wenona non-term time being unpaid.<br /></p><h4>Key responsibilities</h4><p>Indications that this job is being done successfully includes, but is not limited to:<br /></p><ul><li>Managing and curating the design and use of all collaborative / open spaces in consultation with teaching staff to reflect the philosophy and pedagogy of the School.<br /></li><li>Managing, curating and documenting learning to celebrate student capacity demonstrated through their learning that is aligned with the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and visible across K-6, including lines of inquiry and the IB Learner Profile.</li><li>Working closely with classroom teachers, specialist teachers and Teacher Librarian(s) to develop resources to support student inquiry.</li><li>Assist teachers in teaching and learning, particularly during inquiry-based lessons.</li><li>Develop programs that support student ‘play’ through initiatives that support student experiential learning outside the classroom.</li><li>Develop, lead and implement a Wenona Community Garden project – that engages girls in environmental education, educative play and sustainability initiatives K-6.</li></ul><h4>Education and Experience</h4><ul><li>Previous experience in an inquiry based school or Early Childhood setting in a similar role.</li><li>Expertise of and passion for the educational approach of Reggio Emilia, and or experience in an IB school would be highly advantageous.</li><li>Confident in the use of computers and publishing tools, including the creation of print and digital presentations.</li><li>Experience or awareness of Reggio Emilia settings would be an advantage</li><li>Experience in a gallery, museum or design orientated role would be advantageous.</li></ul><h4>Personal Attributes</h4><ul><li>Creative, agile and responsive demeanour</li><li>Willingness to drive initiatives</li><li>Collaborative, solutions focussed nature and a willingness to be inclusive and part of a harmonious team</li><li>High levels of respect for the innate capacity, humanity and rights of each girl.</li><li>Understanding of WHS and Child Safety in ensuring student safety at all times</li><li>Sense of humour.</li></ul><p>Wenona is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion, sexual orientation or age.<br /></p><h4>General conditions of the role</h4><p><u>Award/Industrial Instrument</u>: Independent Schools NSW (Support and Operational Staff) Multi Enterprise Agreement 2017<br /></p><p><u>Classification &amp; Pay</u>: Level 3 School Assistant. Pay is non-negotiable and will reflect the Classification.</p><p><u>Hours of work</u>: Permanent, Full Time, Monday to Friday term time only.
