</b></p><p>Yiyili Aboriginal Independent Community School now has a rewarding opportunity for a full-time High School Teacher to join their school in Yiyili Community, Mueller Ranges, WA.
</p><p>This role will see you responsible for the planning, development and implementation of the Australian Curriculum for a class of Year 7-10 students, within the whole of school approach to teaching and literacy. The school uses Accelerated Literacy as its main approach to teaching literacy, in which training will be provided.
</p><p>Some of your key duties will include (but will not be limited to):
</p><ul><li>Selecting, modifying and developing curricula and teaching materials for use, in co-operation with the community, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal school staff;
</li><li>Providing professional support for Aboriginal staff and developing an effective team teaching approach to the delivery of curriculum content;
</li><li>Running hands-on learning programs such as school café and bike repair workshop that prepare high school students for work;
</li><li>Providing effective on-going evaluation of teaching and learning approaches as well as individual student progress as directed by the Principal and School Board;
</li><li>Working effectively with other teaching staff to maintain a positive, whole school approach to behaviour management; and
</li><li>Using the AITSL Australian professional standards for teachers to identify on-going professional learning needs and recommending to the Principal and school staff appropriate measures for maintaining a high level of professional competence in the delivery of both primary and secondary programs.

</b></p><p>The successful candidate will be a qualified Primary and/or High School Teacher, with WA Teacher Registration (or ability to obtain). Graduates are welcome to apply, however any experience working in a remote environment, with EAL/D students, and/or overseas students will be highly regarded.
</p><p>Yiyili Aboriginal Independent Community School is looking for passionate teachers with the ability to develop strong rapport with students and who bring an inclusive, adaptable and student-focused approach to teaching.
</p><p>Importantly, you will be committed to closing the gap in Aboriginal education, and will bring flexibility to different learning tasks to ensure all students reap the full benefits of the classroom.
</p><p>The school High School teacher works alongside Aboriginal Education Workers to teach Literacy and Numeracy alongside hands-on activities such as coffee making, bike repairs and Gooniyandi Cultural Leadership.
</p><p>Although not a requirement, any experience in positive behaviour management and/or the willingness to develop a further understanding of the impacts of trauma will be highly regarded.
</p><p>Please note: Before commencing you must possess a current Working With Children (OCHRE) card, a current National Police Clearance, and a current, unrestricted Australian Manual Driver's Licence.

</p><p><b>About Yiyili Aboriginal Independent Community School
</b></p><p>Yiyili Aboriginal Independent Community School is an independent school catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 10. It is governed by a school board consisting of members from the local communities and has five multi-age classrooms.
</p><p>The school has a current enrolment of 61 students and is fortunate to have excellent facilities including a covered basketball court, full commercial grade kitchen, a dedicated Gooniyandi language room and music studio space as well as a manual trades workshop. All classrooms are well equipped to service the learning needs of students and have interactive whiteboards as well as class sets of iPads.
