<p>Position Description: Manual Arts Teacher </p><p>Reporting to: Secondary Dean </p><p>Salary: As per award Educational Services Schools (General Staff) Award 2010 TBC </p><p>Hours: TBA </p><p>Location: GEMS Christian Education Ltds, 6373 Gregory Highway, Emerald, QLD, 4720 </p><p> </p><p>GEMS Christian Education Strategic Intentions </p><p>We pursue the following strategic intentions towards our core purpose so that: </p><p>Our students will embrace the values of God, Excellence, Members and Service; discover who they are as individuals; and pursue God&#39;s purpose for their lives. </p><p>Our staff will embrace our core values and personally display Christ to the students utilising stimulating, creative, innovative curriculum and teaching practice. </p><p>Our resource sustainability will allow us to continue to provide and maintain an outstanding and inspiring place of teaching and learning within an environment of seeking partnerships with the wider community. </p><p>Our culture is Christ-centred, driven by our GEMS and demonstrated by our FACETS and will be a welcoming, accessible and inclusive Christian educational community through partnerships with local, national and global communities. </p><p>Our governance will proactively ensure we provide effective strategic and operational leadership to achieve our core purpose and to glorify God. </p><p> </p><p>Core Purpose </p><p>Our Core Purpose is to be a Christian community built on the teachings of Jesus Christ that is preparing hope filled students for lifelong, quality learning across a number of educational enterprises. </p><p> </p><p>Motto: “Learning for Life” </p><p> </p><p>Purpose of the role: The Manual Arts Teacher is responsible for all aspects of the planning, preparation and delivery of effective learning and teaching programs across a range of manual subjects including Woodwork, Metalwork, Graphics, Manufacturing and Motor Mechanics </p><p> </p><p>Responsibilities: </p><p>Plan, prepare and deliver quality and effective teaching and learning programs which are consistent with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers; and relevant syllabi, curriculum policies, work programs and educational trends; </p><p>Maintain teaching competency and currency of knowledge of relevant curriculum programs as required by the College or other relevant statutory authorities; </p><p>Support students through interaction with them in a variety of settings and through the active development of supportive learning environments and effective behaviour management practices; </p><p>Provide for the physical, social, cultural and emotional wellbeing and physical safety of students whilst at school and enhance their overall development through participation in timetabled, non-timetabled and planned extracurricular activities; </p><p>Assess students (diagnostic, formative and summative) for developmental, feedback and reporting purposes; </p><p>Maintain student records and samples of work and report on student performance to students, parents, the department and other stakeholders; </p><p>Participate in the collaborative development and evaluation of curriculum (the sum total of all learning experiences) and regularly monitor, through observation and evaluation, the effectiveness of the learning/teaching program; </p><p>Establish and maintain appropriate interpersonal relationships between the College and community; </p><p>Participate as appropriate, in school decision making processes and professional development. </p><p>Selection Criteria: </p><p>Experience as a Manual Arts Teacher; </p><p>Microsoft Office and relevant teaching software; </p><p>Demonstrated ability to plan, prepare and implement teaching and learning programs that meet student needs; </p><p>Demonstrated ability to maximise student development whilst managing student behaviour appropriately; </p><p>Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with families, students and colleagues. </p><p>Qualifications in Secondary Teaching: </p><p>QCT registration; </p><p>Drivers Licence; </p><p>Current First Aid; </p><p>National Police Clearance Certificate. </p><p>Reporting to the Secondary Dean, you will join a College that is innovative and proactive.
