St Catherine of Siena Catholic Primary School is located in Armstrong Creek. Our learning journey commenced this year with students from P-5 and we have created a welcoming and engaging school of learners. We continue to experience strong growth and we look forward to being a P-6 school in 2021. We are committed to providing quality education within a Catholic school context and to the safety, wellbeing and protection of all children in our care We are seeking suitably qualified, highly motivated and dynamic Deputy Principal to form part of our staff team for 2021. This is a Full time ongoing teacher position at St Catherine of Siena, with a three-year appointment as a Deputy Principal The positions will commence in Term One, 2021. <p><b>Role Description</b></p><p>An exciting leadership opportunity exists at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Primary School for a lead-teacher demonstrating deep commitment to Catholic education, wellbeing and child safety. A leader who has strong contemporary curriculum expertise, recent teaching experience, academic qualifications and innovative leadership qualities. </p><p><br /></p><p><b>The Deputy Principal’s role will encompass: </b></p><ul><li><b> </b>Ensuring the safety, wellbeing and protection of all children in our care.  </li><li> Working professionally with and on behalf of the principal. </li><li>Supporting and consulting with the principal on all relevant matters. </li><li>Developing, leading and supporting school improvement initiatives in line with the Annual Action Plan </li><li> Leading the development and implementation of school improvement initiatives and fostering a culture of inspirational teaching and learning. </li><li> Leading staff in providing a rich and rewarding educational experience for all.  </li><li>  Leading learning that is developmentally appropriate, promotes learning in a contemporary context and differentiates accordingly.  </li><li> Leading staff to work collaboratively to build a culture of fairness, empowerment and excellence. </li><li> Developing leadership capabilities of all and empowering others to lead professional learning. </li><li> Possessing thorough understanding and expert knowledge of the Victorian Curriculum to create innovative, contemporary learning approaches that engage staff to enhance and enable each child to learn. </li><li> Modelling and nourishing positive, meaningful and committed relationships with students, staff and the wider school community. </li><li> Using purposeful assessment that provides data to drive and plan whole school teaching and learning approaches and plans. </li><li> Providing structures that engage and empower each member of the school community, in order to develop confident, independent and resilient learners.  </li><li> Supporting the principal in leading the school community to develop and nurture a culture of welcome and inclusion.  </li><li> Leading and working effectively with other professionals, parents/guardians and members of the broader community to provide effective learning for all </li></ul><p><b><br /></b></p><p><b>Key Selection Criteria</b></p><p>The Deputy Principal is an integral component of the school leadership team and supports the Principal in promoting the Catholic identity of the school and in ensuring engagement, empowerment and excellence in educational outcomes for all. </p><p>To be considered for this role, the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate that he or she is an effective leader who: </p><p> <b>Catholic Identity, safety and Wellbeing </b></p><ul><li>is committed to leading Catholic education, the safety and wellbeing of children and staff. </li><li>demonstrates support for and the capacity to develop and maintain an engaging and safe learning environment </li><li>demonstrates successful approaches to lead the nurturing of staff and student wellbeing and the school community. </li><li>has evidence of contributing to the Catholic life and positive culture of the school community </li></ul><p><b>Teaching and Learning </b></p><ul><li>demonstrates capacity to provide leadership for learning and teaching enabling the achievement of quality outcomes for all students </li><li>lead a learning culture of shared responsibility focused on quality teaching and engaged learning for all. </li><li>builds a learning community of shared responsibility for quality teaching and student learning growth, informed by data and evidenced contemporary thinking. </li><li>develops, leads and implements effective strategies for staff collaborative practice and professional learning </li></ul><p><b>School Improvement Plan and Annual Action Plan </b></p><ul><li>demonstrates capacity to use strategic thinking, analytical skills and intuition in change to contribute to educational outcomes at the school and system level. </li><li>demonstrates capacity to manage effectively human, financial and physical resources to deliver high quality outcomes </li><li>plans and acts strategically and innovatively to drive improvement initiatives within the school and its community </li></ul><p><b>  School Community </b></p><ul><li>creates a culture of inclusion and hospitality by initiating relevant opportunities to engage with parents, care-givers and the community to build and maintain effective partnerships. </li><li>demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to develop and sustain productive and positive partnerships with parents and the wider community. </li></ul><p> <b>Qualifications: </b></p><ul><li> be appropriately qualified and hold Victorian Institute of Teaching Registration. </li><li>have accreditation to teach Religious Education in a Catholic School. </li><li>have post-graduate study in Leadership or Curriculum or a commitment to obtain a Masters. </li></ul>
