Catherine McAuley Catholic College is seeking a permanent full time Head of House to commence in Term 4, 2020. This position attracts an allowance at the level of Coordinator 3 along with 0.4 FTE release time Catherine McAuley Catholic College is a Mercy-inspired learning community committed to empowering confident, agile and reflective learners. Medowie is only 34km from the Newcastle CBD and within an hour’s drive to the stunning Hunter Valley area.

The Head of House merges both learning and wellbeing for students. They have the responsibility of leading, coaching and mentoring a team of educators and professionals in overseeing both academic progress and student wellbeing for learning. The Head of House is a member of the Senior Leadership Team of the College. The position is responsible for chairing a cross disciplinary professional learning team and supporting the Principal in the implementation and embedding of the College strategic goals. <br> <h3>Essential Criteria:</h3> <br> • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and the mission of the Church through Catholic schools. <br>• The applicant should have a four-year trained teacher classification and with an established record of success in teaching. <br>• Ability to demonstrate and lead a comprehensive understanding of contemporary learning and wellbeing principles, informed by evidence-based research. <br>• Lead and develop the implementation of a contemporary learning and wellbeing framework. <br>• Ability to lead a professional learning team underpinned by collaboration and shared responsibility in order to build the capacity of staff and improve student outcomes. <br>• Ability to develop a culture of authentic student agency. <br>• Ability to co-create learning opportunities that empower young people to become confident, agile and reflective learners. <br>• Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional learning. <br>• Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining positive working relationships with families <br>• Current NESA Accreditation <br>• Paid Working With Children Check (WWCC) <br>• Completion of Anaphylaxis training <br>• Willingness to comply with the CSO Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead Policy 2018 <br>• Willingness to work towards the current Accreditation at Category C: Accreditation for Leadership <br> <h3>Desirable Criteria:</h3> <br> • Ability to support key partnerships with industry and community, connecting learners to authentic opportunities locally, nationally and globally. <br>• Prior leadership experience. <br> <h3>Renumeration:</h3> <br> Salary is in accordance with New South Wales &amp; Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2017.
