St Bede’s Catholic College, Chisholm is seeking a Vocational Education Coordinator/Careers Advisor commencing in 2021 (1-point paid and 1-point release). As a transitional arrangement, the Vocational Education Coordinator will also offer careers advice and support to students (1-point release) for 2021 – 2022. St Bede’s Catholic College, in the recently-established suburb of Chisholm, is a new co-educational Catholic secondary school that is part of the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle. The College opened in 2018 and will eventually cater for 1,100 students in Years 7 to 12. In 2021 the College will have approximately 540 Year 7-10 students, with the first Year 12 cohort to graduate in 2023. The Vocational Education Coordinator is responsible for: • Providing quality coordination and leadership for the effective delivery of Vocational Education within the school setting. • Meeting the requirements of the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) as per the Standards and Conditions for Registered Training Organisations (RTO). • Developing processes for the successful transition of students in their subject choices and career pathways in moving from Stage 5 to 6.

A VET Coordinator/Careers adviser must be able to demonstrate: <br>• A relevant understanding of the philosophy of Catholic Education; <br>• High level knowledge of the relevant VET key Learning area/s and courses and a proven capacity to improve student learning. <br>• High quality classroom teaching skills which enable students with a diverse range of needs to achieve their full potential and a proven capacity to improve student learning. <br>• An understanding of the requirements of Vocational Education &amp; Training delivery for Stage 6 in accordance with NESA. <br>• An ability to meet the requirements for the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015 under the National Vocational Education &amp; Training Regulator Act 2011. <br>• The capacity to ensure quality delivery of Vocational Education &amp; Training for the Registered Training Organisation (The Trustees of the Roman Catholic Church for the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle Catholic Schools Office) by adhering to NVR Standards, under the guidance of the Compliance Officer for the RTO. <br>• A sound knowledge of competency-based training and assessment. <br>• A sound understanding of the National Vocational Education &amp; Training Regulations Act 2011 and RTO Standards 2015. <br>• A proven record of VET engagement. <br>• Demonstrated ability to design and oversee appropriate career education strategies <br>• An ability to provide up to date and accurate information on post-school pathways. <br>• An ability to develop partnerships between the school and local industry/business/community. <br>• The capacity to reflect critically upon professional practice and commitment to ongoing professional learning. <br>• The capacity to lead and support faculty members. <br>• High level of communication and interpersonal skills to develop positive relationships with students, staff and the wider community. <br> <h3>Essential Criteria:</h3> <br> • Current NESA Accreditation and Paid Working With Children Check (WWCC); <br>• Qualifications as a four year trained teacher; <br>• Completion of Anaphylaxis training; <br>• Willingness to Comply or Compliance with the CSO Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead 2018 and willingness to work towards the Current Accreditation at Category C – Accreditation for Leadership. <br> <h3>Desirable Criteria:</h3> <br> • It is deemed highly desirable that the person fulfilling this role would have or be prepared to undertake within two (2) years an accredited course of study in Career development such as the Graduate Certificate in Career Education &amp; Development <br> <h3>Renumeration:</h3> <br> Salary is in accordance with New South Wales &amp; Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2017.
