We're seeking a skilled Non-trade Qualified Grounds Maintenance Employee whose principal duties are to support the other services of a school, including but not limited to cleaning, building and grounds maintenance, bus driving and vehicle maintenance.

<p>We're seeking a skilled Non-trade Qualified Grounds Maintenance Employee whose principal duties are to support the other services of a school, including but not limited to cleaning, building and grounds maintenance, bus driving and vehicle maintenance.&nbsp;<br><br>Your responsibilities will include;&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Applies knowledge and skills to a range of tasks and roles;</li> <li>Usually works within routines, methods and procedures, but some discretion is involved in selection of equipment, work organisation, services and actions;</li> <li>Is provided with routine supervision of straightforward tasks, moving to general direction.</li> <li>Does not have a trade qualification (Certificate III), but has a skill level which assumes and requires knowledge, training or experience relevant to the duties to be performed;</li> <li>Carry out general handyman tasks with the sound knowledge and understanding of WHS procedures in carpentry when performing minor repairs or minor maintenance tasks;</li> <li>Liaise with contractors in the event of an emergency situation and organising repair works, in consultation with the Principal's delegate;</li> <li>Supervising contractors and deliveries at the school, during school hours, ensuring the safety of the students and staff;</li> <li>Undertaking general gardening tasks including preparation and planting procedures, grass areas are mowed on a regular basis;</li> <li>Applying fertilisers, fungicides, herbicides and insecticides under general supervision and wearing protective equipment;</li> <li>Responsible for the cleanliness of the school grounds at all times;</li> <li>Responsible for ensuring the school motor vehicle is maintained and serviced on a regular basis;</li> <li>Responsible for ensuring the school motor vehicle is ready for use at all times (eg. fuel, tyres, clean);</li> <li>Undertake any other duties as requested by the Principal and/or Principal’s Delegate. This may include operation of the school’s security system when commencing/finishing a shift;</li> </ul> <p>Requirements of the Position:</p> <ul> <li>Employees are required to support the mission, teachings and ethos of the Catholic Church's work in schools;</li> <li>Demonstrate the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team;</li> <li>Demonstrate the ability to follow direction, prioritise and meet set deadlines;</li> <li>Demonstrate interpersonal skills in working with a range of personnel;</li> <li>Demonstrate initiative to prioritise and carry out school maintenance tasks to minimise WHS issues that may arise;</li> <li>Active member of WHS team to ensure the safety of staff and students;</li> <li>Must have at minimum a current New South Wales full car (Class C) motor vehicle licence;</li> <li>Adhere to safety procedures and regular safety training to carry out all tasks with care.</li> </ul> <p>Work, Health and Safety</p> <ul> <li>Maintenance and outdoor work must be performed within nominated areas and hours to ensure that Work, Health and Safety and security policies, procedures and arrangements are not breached;</li> <li>Personal protective equipment is provided and must be used for specific tasks.&nbsp; This includes sun protection for workers engaged in outdoor activities;</li> <li>Appropriate footwear is required at all times;</li> <li>A report of incidents and dangerous hazards must be advised to the supervisor on the date of incident, and the immediate danger of any hazard must be removed.</li> </ul> <p>It is essential that you;&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Have demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team</li> <li>Have demonstrated ability to follow direction, prioritise and meet set deadlines</li> <li>Have demonstrated interpersonal skills in working with a range of personnel</li> <li>Support the mission, teachings and ethos of the Catholic Church’s work in schools</li> </ul> <p><strong>The Organisation<br><br></strong>Catholic Education within the Diocese of Parramatta provides quality learning and teaching in a faith-centred environment in its primary and secondary schools and for early learning and out of school hours care centres in western Sydney.
