Sydney Catholic Schools is responsible for the leadership, efficient operation and management of the systemic schools which educate around 71,000 students in 152 parish primary and regional secondary schools in the Archdiocese of Sydney.

<p><b>(Contract Position with the possibility of continuing beyond 2020) </b><br /><b>Location:</b> Sydney Catholic Schools, Eastern Region Office <br /><b>Commencement Date:</b> To be negotiated <br /><b>Closing Date: </b> 24 February 2020 </p><p>The Regional Student Wellbeing Officer works with school principals, leadership teams, staff, the Regional Wellbeing and Diverse Learning Teams, and external health care agencies to support schools to provide high quality support and case management for identified students. </p><p>The role is significant in contributing to the continuous improvement of our Catholic Schools through building the capacity of teachers to deliver quality learning and teaching, and wellbeing support, for students. This work has a particular focus on supporting teachers to work within the context of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers with students identified with Complex Social and Emotional Needs. The Regional Student Wellbeing Officer is called to support the three leadership functions: leadership, teaching and wellbeing and will bring a specific expertise to at least one of these critical areas. The Regional Student Wellbeing Officer works in partnership with the school and will at times be called upon to be coach, mentor, or facilitator in accordance with the discerned needs of the school community. </p><p>  The role requires a flexible, adaptable leader who has the capacity to work in a variety of ways with school leadership teams, regional wellbeing and diverse learning teams, and teachers, for sustainable improvements in student outcomes. </p><p><b><br />Formal Qualifications Required: </b><br /></p><p>Tertiary level graduate qualifications in Social Work / Psychology or Related field and </p><ol><li>Registered psychologist; or </li><li>Member of the Australian Association of Social workers (AASW); or </li><li> A Clinical member of the Counsellors and Psychotherapists Association of NSW (CAPA) <br /><br /></li></ol><p><b>Experience Required </b></p><ul><li>A demonstrated commitment to the mission of Catholic education </li><li>Experience and evidence of working in an educational setting would be an advantage <br /><br /></li></ul><p> </p><p><b>Selection Criteria: </b></p><ul><li>Ability to work effectively as part of a team </li><li>Knowledge of a range of external to school health care agencies for children and adolescents identified with complex social and emotional needs </li><li>Working knowledge of legislation and procedures in the areas of Child Protection and Mandatory Reporting </li><li>Capacity to work flexibly with a range of teachers, leaders, regional and archdiocesan personnel </li><li>Well developed organisational skills </li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills </li><li>Capacity to coach and mentor </li><li>Sound understanding of adult learning principles </li></ul><p> </p><p>A comprehensively insured motor vehicle is essential for this position and travel costs are reimbursed according to Sydney Catholic Schools policy. </p><p> </p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/19BJ4RCrhVMqKnGbL8VDBlXAYBY5po3bj/view" rel="nofollow">Role Description</a> </p><p> </p><p><b>APPLICATION PROCESS </b></p><p>Applicants are required to fill out the<a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JRyl4T8HTqjrAxQOjgKDL6_dbsuRWSlG/view" rel="nofollow"> School Leader application form</a> along with related documents and return it via email to hr.recruitment&#64;syd.catholic.edu.au.</p><p> </p><p><b>WORKING WITH CHILDREN CLEARANCE </b></p><p>This role is classified as a child related work and therefore we require a working with children clearance to be completed prior to your commencement with us. </p><p><br /></p>
