<p>We're seeking a Grounds Maintenance Employee who will be responsible to support the other services of a school, including but not limited to cleaning, building and grounds maintenance, retailing - canteens, uniform shops; and bus driving and vehicle maintenance.&nbsp;<br><br></p> <p><strong>Your responsibilities will include (but not limited to):&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>Does not require a trade qualification but has a skill level which assumes and requires knowledge, training or experience relevant to the duties to be performed;</li> <li>Carry out general handyman tasks (basic carpentry, plumbing, painting and electrical) with sound knowledge and understanding of WHS when performing minor repairs or minor maintenance tasks. This may include liaising with, organising and supervising contractors for repair works, in consultation with the Principal's delegate;</li> <li>Manage distribution of deliveries at the school and unpacking of goods and resources;</li> <li>Locking and/or unlocking all gates at the end/beginning of the day and before/after school. This may include operation of the school’s security system when finishing/ starting work;</li> <li>Cleanliness of the school grounds at all times. This includes collecting and emptying rubbish bins and picking up rubbish after school lunch break. This also includes blower/vacuuming and/or pressure washing, as required;</li> <li>Assisting with setup of college events and functions;</li> <li>Undertaking general gardening tasks including weeding, watering, planting and ensuring grass areas are mowed. This also includes applying fertilisers, fungicides, herbicides and insecticides and wearing protective equipment;</li> <li>Undertake any other duties as requested by the Principal and/or Principal’s delegate.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Requirements of the Position:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Applies knowledge and skills to a range of tasks and roles;</li> <li>Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team;</li> <li>Ability to follow direction, prioritise and meet set deadlines;</li> <li>Work within routines, methods and procedures, but some discretion is involved in selection of equipment, work organisation, services and actions;</li> <li>Interpersonal skills in working with a range of personnel and cooperative approach to work requests;</li> <li>Initiative to identify and proactively carry out maintenance tasks to upkeep the College and to minimise WHS issues that may arise;</li> <li>Knowledge of WHS practices, be an active member of WHS committee and report incidents and dangerous hazards to Principal’s Delegate on date of incident, and remove the immediate danger of any hazard.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Work, Health and Safety:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Work must be performed within nominated areas and hours to ensure that WHS and security policies, procedures and arrangements are not breached;</li> <li>Personal protective equipment is provided and must be used for relevant tasks.&nbsp; This includes sun protection for workers engaged in outdoor activities;</li> <li>Appropriate footwear is required at all times;</li> <li>Adhere to safety procedures to carry out all tasks with care.</li> </ul> <p><strong>It is essential that you:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Support the mission, teachings and ethos of a Catholic school;</li> <li>Undertake a medical assessment;</li> <li>Current Working With Children Check;</li> <li>Current full New South Wales (Class C) motor vehicle licence (and drive manual ute).</li> </ul> <p><strong>The Organisation<br><br></strong>Catholic Education within the Diocese of Parramatta provides quality learning and teaching in a faith-centred environment in its primary and secondary schools and for early learning and out of school hours care centres in western Sydney.
