<p>Located in Manly, Stella Maris College is a Catholic College in the Good Samaritan tradition which recognises and respects the individuality of each person who forms part of the College community. The young women are prepared to meet the demands and challenges of the 21st century.</p><p>We are looking to expand our team of dynamic, experienced professionals who engage with teachers, students and parents to meet the individual learning needs of students. </p><h4>COLLEGE ASSISTANT COUNSELLOR</h4><h4>Permanent part time position <br />0.5FTE</h4><p><br />The College Counsellor is a member of the Wellbeing Team working under the leadership of the Assistant Principal Wellbeing. As a member of this team, the College Counsellor is committed to proactively preparing students with the skills required to navigate life as a teenager. The Wellbeing Team work collaboratively to support the social and emotional wellbeing of all students. </p><p>The College Assistant Counsellor is responsible for providing individual and small group counselling to students, and to support them with issues of a personal, emotional, behavioural and/or social nature. The Assistant College Counsellor will work closely with members of the Wellbeing Team, and will also provide support and guidance to school staff generally. Communication with parents and external professional agencies is also a part of this role.</p><p>Essential Criteria for the role: </p><ul><li>Some counselling experience with adolescents. Registration as a psychologist, social worker or counsellor is desirable but not essential. Consideration will be given to the right applicant who is working towards their qualifications and registration. </li><li>A keen interest in, and understanding of, all areas of adolescent development. </li><li>Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of people. </li><li>The ability to identify and address the specific social, emotional, learning and behavioural needs of students. </li><li>The ability to work collaboratively with students, staff and parents. </li><li>The ability to work independently. </li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of current Child Protection Legislation. </li><li>The ability to plan, develop and deliver small group programs to students. </li></ul><p>Applications close 25 November 2019.<br /></p><p>For details on how to apply, visit: www.stellamaris.nsw.edu.au/employment</p>
