The College is seeking to appoint a 45.6h/f (3 d/w) Speech Pathologist in 2020 to be a member of our trans-disciplinary college team with expertise in working with young people with special needs.

<p>Eileen O’Connor Catholic College, Lewisham is a co-educational primary and secondary Sydney Catholic Schools college. The college opened in 2016 to meet the needs of students with moderate intellectual disability and other complex learning needs. In 2020, the college will have an enrolment of approximately 100 students in Kindergarten to Year 12 at the Lewisham Campus and two primary network classes at Good Shepherd Primary School, Hoxton Park. In future years the College will have an Early Intervention Centre, a Centre for Professional Learning and a network of primary and secondary classes in Sydney Archdiocesan schools and colleges. Applicants wishing to know more about the college can access the school’s website https://eocc.nsw.edu.au/ </p><p><b>Primary Duties:</b></p><p>Working with teachers in the classroom supporting students with a range of significant and complex learning needs, including Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental delays and disorders;<br /></p><p>Supporting students in the development of individualised plans and interventions;</p><p>Working collaboratively with teaching staff, including coaching teachers and parents, in the</p><p>development and implementation of a range of intervention strategies so that students can more effectively access learning programs;</p><p>Working with teaching staff to implement a range of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) tools and strategies.</p><p><b>Formal Qualification required:</b><br /></p><p>Recognised tertiary degree in Speech Pathology and eligibility for membership with Speech Pathology Australia.</p><p><b>Essential Criteria:</b><br /></p><p>Demonstrated commitment to the ideals and ethos of Catholic Education;</p><p>Experience working with students who have disabilities, special learning difficulties or developmental delays;</p><p>Experience providing advice and training to teaching staff and parents in the use of Augmentative and Assistive Communication (AAC) and intervention strategies for students with disabilities;</p><p>Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships with teaching and support staff;</p><p>Experience in planning and delivering interactive professional development for school staff on learning needs of students with complex disabilities;</p><p>Experience working in a trans-disciplinary team including health and educational professionals.</p><p><br /></p>
