As a college that specialises in addressing the needs of students with significant and complex disabilities, we are seeking to employ Learning Support Officers (2) with experience and expertise in special education.

<p>Eileen O’Connor Catholic College, Lewisham is a co-educational primary and secondary Sydney Catholic Schools college. The college opened in 2016 to meet the needs of students with moderate intellectual disability and other complex learning needs. In 2020 the college will have an enrolment of approximately 100 students in Kindergarten to Year 12 at the Lewisham campus. In future years the College will have an Early Intervention Centre, a Centre for Professional Learning and a network of primary and secondary classes in Sydney Archdiocesan schools and colleges. Applicants wishing to know more about the college can access the school’s website https://eocc.nsw.edu.au/ </p><p>In 2020, the college will establish a campus at Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School, Hoxton Park that will incorporate two Network Classes for Year 3-5 students. These classes will each enrol 6-8 students with moderate intellectual disability and other complex learning needs, each with a teacher and Learning Support Officer, with access to speech and occupational therapy services and teaching and learning programs based on the EOCC Authentic for Learning for Life pedagogical framework. <br /></p><p><b>Primary Duties:</b><br /></p><p>Work within a multi-disciplinary college setting by supporting students with a range of significant and complex learning needs, including Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental delays and disorders within and outside the classroom;</p><p>Support staff in the implementation of personalised plans and interventions for students;</p><p>Work collaboratively with staff in the delivery of a range of intervention strategies so that students can more effectively access learning programs;</p><p>Attend to the personal needs of students;</p><p>Attend to specific medical needs of students (with relevant training);</p><p>Operate audio-visual and related learning technologies related to classroom programs and assist in the preparation of special teaching aids for use with students.</p><p><b>Essential Criteria:</b><br /></p><p>Demonstrated commitment to the ethos of Catholic Education;</p><p>Experience as a Learning Support Officer in a primary or secondary school;</p><p>Experience in supporting staff to provide for students with significant disabilities and special learning needs;</p><p>Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships with families and college staff;</p><p>Experience working in a multidisciplinary team including health and educational professionals.</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>
