The College is seeking a Year Level Leader commencing in 2020 who will play a lead role in the College’s pastoral care structures providing support to students, teachers and parents.

<p>St Bernard’s is a vibrant learning community providing holistic boys’ education with a strong focus on academic excellence. </p><p>The College is seeking a Year Level Leader commencing in 2020 who will play a lead role in the College’s pastoral care structures providing support to students, teachers and parents. This role is to be one of leadership through collaboration with homeroom teachers, subject teachers and students. Year Level Leaders will develop and demonstrate a compassionate and respectful relationship with students, staff and parents and will, in liaison with the Assistant Principal (Student Wellbeing) and other staff, exercise responsibility for the implementation of the College’s Student Management guidelines. The main responsibilities of the position include:</p><ul><li>Oversee the pastoral care and wellbeing of all students in the Year Level, in particular being a point of contact for behavioural matters in line with the College’s Student Management Guidelines. </li><li> Liaise with Homeroom Teachers on pastoral, discipline or student wellbeing matters, being the first point of contact for students as outlined in the College’s Student Management Guidelines.  </li><li>Plan and conduct Year Level Assemblies that prioritise, encourage and mentor student participation and leadership. </li><li>Play an active role in the recognition and celebration of student achievement. </li><li>Conduct regular meetings with subject and Homeroom Teachers within the Year Level to review and monitor student progress and wellbeing.   </li><li>Work with the Assistant Principal (Student Wellbeing) and Student Wellbeing Coordinator in developing and reviewing pastoral care and student wellbeing practices.</li><li>Work with the Student Wellbeing Coordinator and Homeroom Teachers on an ongoing basis to develop, implement and review the Pastoral Program including the pastoral care period, guest speakers and student led initiatives;</li><li>Work in a highly proactive, collaborative and supportive way with other Year Level Leaders and the Assistant Principal (Student Wellbeing) on pastoral, behavioural and student wellbeing matters.</li><li>Participate actively in fortnightly Year Level Leader meetings.</li><li>Closely monitor the overall academic performance of members of the year level.</li><li>Communicate with students, parents and staff on matters relating to student wellbeing and behaviour in line with the College’s Student Management Guidelines. </li><li>Communicate with students, parents and staff on year level matters.</li><li>Approve and/or issue after school detentions, redeemer sessions and other behaviour management responses in accordance with Student Behaviour Management Guidelines.</li><li>Other duties as outlined in the position description. </li></ul><p>The successful applicant will have a teaching qualification and demonstrate the following competencies: </p><ul><li>Demonstrated understanding of the wellbeing and pastoral care needs of students in a Catholic secondary school for boys. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to lead students and staff. </li><li>Experience within a Catholic educational organisation.  </li><li>Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with students.</li></ul><p>A detailed position description is available on the College website</p><p>Applications can be submitted on the College website at www.sbc.vic.edu.au/about/employment.
