Year Level/Subject: Primary St Thomas the Apostle Primary School opened in 2014 with an enrolment of 125 students, and has an expected enrolment of about 700 in 2020. The school is located in Cranbourne East, which is in one of the most rapidly growing areas in Australia, approximately 60 kilometres east of Melbourne. The school is committed to the safety and protection of all of the children in its care.

<p><b>The school&#39;s Mission and Instructional Vision are:</b> </p><p>Mission: </p><p>St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Primary School, Cranbourne East has been established to provide a quality education in the Catholic tradition for the families in the local area. </p><p>Instructional Vision: </p><p>In the spirit of St Thomas the Apostle, who was one of the first Christian missionaries and is the patron saint of builders, the community of St Thomas will endeavour to build a community of prayer, thanksgiving, service and reconciliation and provide opportunities for all its students to experience a collaborative &amp; reflective learning environment that educates, engages &amp; challenges. </p><p>St Thomas the Apostle Primary School belongs to the newly formed Clyde North Parish. The multi-cultural community is represented by more than 40 different nationalities. </p><p>St Thomas the Apostle P.S. operates under the management of the Diocese of Sale, Catholic Education Limited (DOSCEL). </p><p>We are offering an outstanding career opportunity for a suitably qualified applicant with a proven record of leadership and who aspires to Principalship. The position of leadership will initially be offered on a fixed-term basis for three years, with opportunity for renewal. The successful applicant will be offered ongoing employment at the school. </p><p>This role is classified as Deputy Principal Category B level 4. </p><p>St Thomas the Apostle P.S. is seeking a suitably qualified leader with initiative, flexibility and adventurous spirit required to be an effective Deputy Principal of a rapidly growing, young school to work in partnership with the Principal, staff, student and parent community to realise its Mission &amp; Instructional Vision through the implementation of the St Thomas the Apostle P.S. School Improvement Plan.</p><p><b>Special Requirements </b></p><p>Accreditation to Teach Religious Education, or exemption from the requirement of Accreditation. Full registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching. Academic qualifications beyond initial teacher training - Master&#39;s degree or five-year equivalent. </p><p>Selection Criteria </p><ul><li>Catholic Identity and Religious Education </li><li>Demonstrated capacity to articulate and promote a deep understanding of Catholic identity within Catholic education and the place of a rich Religious Education curriculum to promote and support this identity. </li></ul><p>Vision and values </p><ul><li>Demonstrated capacity to articulate a compelling vision, aligned with system priorities and communicate expectations for effective performance of a school. </li></ul><p>Leading learning and teaching </p><ul><li>Demonstrated capacity as an instructional leader including an ability to embed a culture of high expectation of student learning and build expert teacher practice which is evidence based and high impact and empower others to become instructional leaders and expert teachers. </li></ul><p>Leading improvement, innovation and change </p><ul><li>Demonstrated capacity for strategic leadership focusing on leadership for innovation and change, and an ability to design and implement high leverage improvement plans. </li></ul><p>Leading the management of the school </p><ul><li>Demonstrated capacity to ensure that the school&#39;s human, physical and financial resources are efficiently allocated and managed including ongoing compliance with the Child Safe Standards and the Victorian Registration and Qualification Authority. </li></ul><p>Engagement </p><ul><li>Demonstrated capacity to develop positive relationships with students; parents and families; the local parish and wider community; and participate and contribute to DOCSEL activities.</li></ul>
