A career opportunity as Dean of Studies Secondary is available for commencement in 2020. As a member of the School Leadership Team, the Dean of Studies - Secondary reports to the Head of School and works closely with the Head of Secondary, Dean of Studies – Primary, Head of Learning Support, Head of Primary, Careers Advisors and School Psychologist Secondary as required. The Dean of Studies – Secondary is accountable for the curriculum and teaching practice offered to students in the Secondary Division and the primary purpose of this position is the management of AISHK secondary curriculum programs i.e. the Australian Curriculum (ACARA), NSW 7-10, HSC, IB and the oversight of the planning, documentation and implementation of best practice pedagogy.

<p>This role involves close liaison with all Key Learning Area Heads of Departments and Co-ordinators, and through them the teachers of secondary students in all faculty areas. The Dean of Studies ensures individual student learning styles are identified and differentiation in teaching practice, so as to effectively respond to these learning styles, is both encouraged and enhanced across the Secondary Division.  <br /></p><p> </p><p><b>Time Allocation: </b></p><p>Classroom teaching according to staff holding positions of leadership required teaching allocation: currently 30 periods of administration time release and 18 periods of teaching. </p><p> </p><p><b>Essential Criteria: </b></p><p>• NSW Teaching Qualifications (or equivalent) and recent experience in teaching a range of subjects for both the NSW HSC and IB Diploma. Demonstrated excellence in classroom teaching and management practices. </p><p>• Demonstrates well-developed leadership, people management and supervisory skills gained from experience in a leadership role in a school environment. </p><p>• Demonstrates high-level organisational and administrative skills and an ability to lead and coordinate projects and services for staff and students </p><p>• Behaves ethically, reflects positivity, demonstrates a growth mindset and contributes to the school’s ethos and community life </p><p>• Workable knowledge of the Australian Curriculum (ACARA) NSW 7-10 and awareness of relevant implementation timelines. </p><p>• Recent experience in the role of IB Co-ordinator. </p><p>• Effective interpersonal and communication skills. </p><p>• Proficiency in and capacity to role model the use of innovative educational technology in the classroom. </p><p>• Capacity to mentor and offer professional leadership to secondary teaching staff. </p><p> </p><p><br /></p>
