The College is seeking a passionate, highly skilled Psychologist for a newly created position to lead our Counselling team.

We are a vibrant community that values passionate and committed teachers who engage, challenge and grow their students in their Christian faith journey, personal development and academic study.    </p><p> <b>Role Summary </b></p><p> As Co-ordinator of Counselling Services, you will oversee the valuable support, counselling and psychological services provided to students and their families across Preparatory to Year 12. This role includes counselling students, assessing students&#39; learning and behaviour, helping families make informed decisions about their child&#39;s education, identifying impediments to students&#39; learning and liaising with external agencies regarding students&#39; wellbeing.   </p><p><b>Key Responsibilities </b><br /></p><ul><li> Oversee the College’s Counselling service including the provision of ongoing training/mentoring to the Counselling team, and manage the distribution of caseloads </li><li>Utilise psychological expertise to support students to achieve cognitive, emotional, social, physical and spiritual wellbeing </li><li>Plan, coordinate and conduct parent education sessions focused on child and adolescent health and wellbeing (minimum one event per term) </li><li>Provide general counselling for students as required </li><li>Comprehensive psycho-social and educational assessment and diagnosis for appropriate program design</li><li>Interpreting specialist’s test results, for inclusion in program design</li><li>Liaise where appropriate with Deputy Head, the Heads of Sub-school, the Head of Learning Support K-12, Assistant Deputies (Primary), Year Coordinators (Secondary) and Careers Advisor as a consultant for learning and behaviour problems</li><li>Ensure the College meets its mandatory reporting obligations to relevant external bodies</li><li>Liaise with parents and external healthcare providers as appropriate</li><li>Act as a referral base for specialist consultations, as required</li><li>Be proactive and preventative, which involves the identification of needs and the subsequent development of coping strategies, including:</li><li>assisting individual students who are experiencing difficulties with social, communication and conflict resolution skills as well as organisational and study skills;</li><li>increase students’ awareness of self, others and the wider College, within the framework of the College’s Christian ethos; and </li><li>ensure awareness of the College’s support systems and how to access them. </li><li>Maintain current and accurate student counselling records </li><li>Attend sub-school Student Support meetings (for relevant year groups) which may be held during or after the conclusion of the school day </li><li>Plan, coordinate and conduct staff training, as required </li><li>Form part of the Critical Incident Team (which may need to meet out of regular school hours) </li><li>Comply with all requirements of the College including access to, and the reporting of information you become aware of in the provision of counselling services </li><li>Meet with the Deputy Head on a fortnightly basis for a Case Update Conference </li><li>Counsellors will keep confidential all Confidential Information other than Confidential Information that: </li><li>you are required to disclose in the course of your duties as an employee of the College; or </li><li>you are required by law to disclose. </li><li> Any other duties as directed by the Headmaster or his delegate </li></ul><p> </p><p><b>Skills / Knowledge / Attributes </b></p><p> </p><ul><li>A regularly practising member of a Christian Church </li><li>Ability to keep confidence, yet discern when an issue must be escalated </li><li>A flexible attitude with a willingness to learn new skills </li><li>Proven ability to problem-solve and negotiate conflicting priorities </li><li>The ability to work collaboratively within a team </li><li>Excellent organisational skills and a systematic approach with attention to detail, including comprehensive record keeping in line with best practice </li><li>Sound communication skills with a strong customer focus and friendly persona</li></ul><p> </p><p><b>Qualifications / Experience </b></p><p> </p><ul><li>Possess university Psychology qualifications </li><li>Registered Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia or Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) </li><li>Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience as a Psychologist or similar </li><li>Experience as a School Psychologist, desirable </li><li>Proficiency in the use of a large-scale database (e.g. Synergetic or similar) desirable </li></ul><p> </p><p>To apply for this role, submit your Cover Letter, CV and College Application form (which must form part of your application) to <a href="mailto:employment&#64;wcc.nsw.edu.au" rel="nofollow">employment&#64;wcc.nsw.edu.au </a>by the closing date. </p><p> </p><p><i>William Clarke College is a child safe workplace; all successful candidates will be subject to a Working with Children Check prior to commencement. </i></p><p> </p><p>Applications for this role close <b><i>midday, Wednesday 26 June 2019</i></b></p>
