<p><b>Aboriginal Education Worker</b></p><p>This position is one of working in partnership with the classroom teachers to provide advice, expertise and practical support for Aboriginal students. In collaboration with school leaders the successful applicant will support structures for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and work closely with the school community to promote reconciliation and support their understanding of local Aboriginal culture. The Aboriginal Education Worker will work as a member of a team in conjunction with the Head of Educational Services. </p><p>The positon is created to improve learning outcomes for Aboriginal students by providing advice and support in behaviour, attendance, literacy, and numeracy also to strengthen culture identity in partnership with the classroom teacher for Aboriginal students at St Brendan&#39;s Catholic School, Lake Munmorah for two days a week. </p><p><b>This position requires: </b></p><p>• Appreciation of the Catholic Faith and Aboriginal spirituality; </p><p>• Understanding of and sensitivity to the learning needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students; </p><p>• Capacity to work in partnership with classroom teachers; </p><p>• Capacity to support contemporary teaching and learning across the curriculum; </p><p>• Knowledge of contemporary Aboriginal education programs; </p><p>• Ability to work as part of a team to support Aboriginal students; </p><p>• Skills to develop partnerships with the local Aboriginal community; </p><p>• Communication and administrative skills associated with the position; </p><p>• Highly developed interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with families and communities in order to support Aboriginal student learning. </p><p><b>Essential </b></p><ul><li> Current drivers licence  </li></ul><p>It is a genuine occupational requirement that the position be filled by a person of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
