All Saints’ College, Maitland is seeking a temporary 0.8FTE Literacy Coach for 2020. All Saints’ College Strategic Plan articulates the need for strong student literacy skills to enable successful learning and allowing for confident, active and engaged citizenship within the local and global communities. The role aims to: • Provide mentoring support to teachers at All Saints’ College in implementing explicit strategies to improve student learning. • Provide support to the school in developing, monitoring and evaluating school initiatives. • Assist with the provision of relevant professional development opportunities for teachers in the areas of literacy. • Assist the school in the analysis of NAPLAN results to support planning and target setting. • Provide literacy interventions to identified students from Years 7 to 12 by adopting a 3-tiered approach - whole class, small group, or individual. The Literacy Coach / Teacher at All Saints’ College will work with Leaders of Learning (Studies Coordinators) and teachers across all KLA’s to improve Literacy outcomes for our students. This will be achieved through the development of effective teaching strategies supported by data driven evidence. It will also involve effective evaluation and monitoring of student progress.

The Literacy Coach/Teacher must be able to demonstrate: <br>• A relevant understanding of the philosophy of Catholic Education <br>• An excellent understanding of the processes for teaching literacy, diagnosing student needs, strategic planning and implementing intervention strategies. <br>• A capacity to implement a range of literacy strategies suitable for whole classes, small groups or individual students. <br>• An understanding of current curriculum requirements in schools. <br>• A capacity to work individually with Coordinators and teachers to promote literacy initiatives throughout the school. <br>• A willingness to present at staff meetings, and conduct literacy based professional development and training for staff. <br>• A high level of communication, interpersonal, organisational and ICT skills. <br>• A capacity to assist Coordinators and teachers to identify, select and monitor the most appropriate resources and intervention programs for the school.
