St Mary Star of the Sea College is a Good Samaritan Catholic girls’ school for Years 7-12 located in Wollongong. We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Canteen Assistant for an immediate start. Terms 2, 3 and 4 2019 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8.00am to 2.00pm during term time.

<p>The position reports to the Canteen Manager and is responsible for:</p><ul><li> food preparation and cooking;</li><li>front line service of students and staff including operating POS equipment;</li><li>ensuring hygiene of the canteen area eg walls, floors, appliances and equipment on a daily basis;</li><li>assisting with stock ordering, control and supply chain management;</li><li>identifying sales opportunities and waste minimisation strategies;</li><li>maintaining safe work practices and contributing to keeping the overall site safe, clean and presentable to customers;</li><li>assisting with the supervision of casual staff and volunteer support;</li><li>other duties as required.</li></ul><p><b>Skills and Experience</b></p><ul><li>relevant experience in the hospitality industry;</li><li>experience working in a fast paced food environment;<br />must have a Food Safety Practices Certificate or similar and have familiarity with meeting food handling regulations;</li><li>effective and demonstrable communication skills and experience in working with customers;</li><li>effective organisational skills and a good approach to work, with an ability to work with others to make improvements; and</li><li>being competent with electronic communication and computerised systems and procedures.</li></ul><p>To be successful in this role you will be: able to perform the duties in keeping with the vision, ethos and traditions of Good Samaritan Education; a diligent and dedicated worker with a focus on safety; and physically capable of undertaking associated manual work.<br /><br />Please submit a letter addressing the criteria, an application form (can be downloaded at www.stmarys.nsw.edu.au ) and curriculum vitae to Mr Darren Grant, St Mary Star of the Sea College, Locked Bag 42, Wollongong 2500 and include the names and contact details of two referees.  Child protection legislation requires the successful applicant to supply a Working with Children Check.
