The Pastoral Care Worker is responsible for the pastoral care and spiritual wellbeing of the students and staff of St Joseph's Primary School, Taree. The Pastoral Care Worker (PCW) will share in creating a purposeful, caring, learning environment for children by the application of high professional standards of pastoral care and support for children's emotional, spiritual and behavioural needs. They will work alongside and complement the existing Catholic Religious Curriculum, as well as the welfare and wellbeing policies in the school. Their main tasks are: <br/>• To support the school in its aim to provide a Christ-centred, child-focused, safe and supportive learning environment. <br/>• To support the wellbeing of students, staff, and families of the entire school community. <br/>• To link families to community resources and services.

<br> <h3>Essential Criteria:</h3> <br> • have an understanding and willingness to support and follow the Catholic Identity and mission of the school. <br>• have a good understanding of the Catholic School and the wider community <br>• have good organisational and communication skills (with teachers, clergy, parents and students) <br>• have an ability to collaborate and work effectively in teams <br>• have an ability to work effectively in a school environment <br>• have an ability to work closely with school principals and executive in achieving specific strategic goals <br>• be competent and capable in monitoring and reporting requirements <br>• have a minimum qualification in Certificate IV in Youth Work or Pastoral Care or equivalent qualification. These must include mental health related and making appropriate referrals unit/s of competency <br>• Interpersonal skills <br>• Understanding and compassion towards the marginalised <br>• Prioritisation of the well- being of students and families. <br> <h3>Desirable Criteria:</h3> <br> • Counselling skills <br>• Seasons for Growth <br>• Rock and Water <br> <h3>Renumeration:</h3> <br> Salary is in accordance with New South Wales &amp; Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2017. <br> <h3>Additional Info:</h3> <br> The covering letter should address the criteria as outlined and contact details of your parish priest must be included. The preferred applicant will be required to complete the registration process for the Catholic Schools Office as well as the necessary Federal Police checks.
