Head of CAPA

<p>St Clare’s College is seeking to appoint an outstanding and experienced Head of Creative and Performing Arts with a strong academic background. This position of leadership attracts 2 point time and remuneration allocation. The ability to teach Visual Arts to Stage 6 is essential. This is a permanent full time position commencing Term 1 2019. </p><p> </p><p>About the role: </p><p>The Head of CAPA assists in influencing the learning and teaching throughout the College. This position requires an Educator who has a passion for working collaboratively in the leadership of the Creative and Performing Arts within the College in relation to curriculum initiatives, and the learning and teaching process. As a member of St Clare&#39;s College, the role requires a commitment to supporting a positive religious and cultural Catholic school environment for young women in the Franciscan tradition. </p><p> </p><p>Key Selection criteria: </p><p>The Head of CAPA is a delegated responsibility by the Principal for the leadership of the following key areas within the Creative and Performing Arts and the College:- </p><p>Provide active leadership for all those involved in teaching or supporting the CAPA department. This will include mentoring, collaborating and the sharing of information so that staff motivation is at an optimum level to encourage continuous improvement in the quality of learning and teaching. </p><p>Create effective teams by inspiring and motivating students and staff. Be a positive role model for other staff and students by taking responsibility for the continuous improvement of the team within the context of the College. </p><p>Give active leadership in contemporary learning practices that enhance student achievement and performance across all CAPA courses. Capacity to lead the ongoing development of differentiated pedagogy, authentic learning and assessment which is informed by evidence-based approaches and the skilled use of data. </p><p>Lead the facilitation of staff professional development in the required learning and teaching skills, and content knowledge. </p><p>Work collaboratively at both strategic and operational levels with other Heads of Department, staff, students and parents. </p><p>Develop, evaluate and revise faculty policies and procedures which comply with College, Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) and NESA legislative requirements and guidelines. </p><p>Support the College Leadership Team to implement an annual process of review of key results to set stretch goals for faculty staff and students. </p><p>Provide sound leadership to and administration of the faculty in a way that is credible and consistent for all stakeholders. </p><p>Collaborate with colleagues to build genuine and professional relationships and to promote shared commitment and a sense of achievement. </p><p> </p><p><b>PROFESSIONAL DUTIES AND ROLE ACCOUNTABILITY</b></p><p> </p><p>The Head of Department is responsible for: </p><p> </p><p>Leading and managing the CAPA department including, modelling best practice in CAPA teaching, implementation of curriculum (Years 7-12), monitoring achievement of students and effectiveness of teachers, dealing with all operational, budgeting and record keeping requirements and ensuring fair and effective assessment procedures. </p><p>Ensuring continued innovation in the teaching of CAPA. Providing opportunities for enrichment for gifted students and oversee all out of hours CAPA related learning. </p><p>Encouraging the use of ICT in all appropriate areas of CAPA learning. </p><p>Actively working with members of the CAPA department in planning a pathway for the professional learning needs of the faculty. </p><p>Attending and contributing to Curriculum Team meetings on behalf of the faculty. </p><p>Holding regular faculty meetings with published agendas with subject teachers.
