The Science Laboratory Technician works in collaboration with the Learning Leader: Science, other laboratory staff and Science Teachers to ensure that all Science classes are conducted in a safe and effective manner. The Science Laboratory Technician is also responsible for ensuring that all science equipment and supplies are maintained in accordance with the required safety regulations.<br /></p><p><b><br /></b></p><p><b>Key Responsibilities of the role: (Overview)</b><br /></p><ul><li>Teacher Support- support classroom activities (experiments/education), set up and pack up, briefs on safety and proper handling, data base records</li><li>Equipment- maintenance, checks, safe handling processes, emergency procedures, risk assessments and checklists</li><li>Specialist Cleaning- appropriate disposal of chemicals and biological matter in accordance with regulations</li><li>Care- for the fauna within the department, in accordance with handling regulations</li><li>Liaison- with other schools to share resources, along with strong networks with LTB STAV, Lab Tech Associations for Laboratory Technicians in Schools</li></ul><p><br /></p><p><b>About You</b><br /></p><p><b>The successful candidate will:</b><br /></p><ul><li>An appropriate Science or Laboratory Technician qualification with experience working in a school environment (preferred)</li><li>Knowledge of the requirements for VCE Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Psychology (an advantage)</li><li>Strong ICT skills, including the use of Microsoft Office applications</li><li>Personal skills of flexibility, adaptability as well as a high degree of motivation</li><li>Demonstrated ability to establish positive and effective working relationships with staff and students</li><li>A strong commitment to team work and working collaboratively with others</li><li>Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills</li><li>Enthusiasm, motivation, and initiative</li><li>A commitment to the safety, wellbeing and protection of all children</li><li>Demonstrated commitment to Catholic Education and an understanding of the importance of charism and spiritual tradition in the life of an order-owned Catholic school</li></ul><p>A current Working with Children Check (employee) and National Criminal History Check are essential requirements of this position. Along with a current First Aid Level 2 Certificate, Asthma, Anaphylaxis and CPR.<br /></p><p><br /></p><p><b>This position is ongoing, full time.
