The Sacred Heart Way is identified through actions that uphold and advance Catherine McAuley’s vision of the lived Gospel, which is at the heart of our community.</p><p>Strategy 2021 and Beyond articulates our vision of educating girls in the Mercy tradition to make a difference in our changing world. Key elements of the strategy focus on opportunities to reimagine learning that enables members of our school community to be creative, self-directed and critical thinkers, who are inspired to learn, whose natural inquisitiveness is nurtured and who strive for excellence.</p><p><b>The Position</b></p><p>Through the development of current and new initiatives and programs, the Pathways Consultant partners with students, staff and families to educate and inform students on career and education pathways, tailoring content and initiatives to suit the relevant audience and stage of education.</p><p>Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:<br /></p><ul><li>Develop and deliver a careers education program connected with My Learning Journey and Strategy 2021 and Beyond that engages and informs students at all stages of their educational journey.<br /></li><li>In line with Strategy 2021 and Beyond, contribute to and foster student knowledge regarding the breadth of choice available to them, such as global networks, the changing world of work, and entrepreneurial opportunities.</li><li>Explore and deliver resources and supports to empower students to access information, build knowledge and make decisions regarding appropriate further education and career pathways.</li><li>Build and connect teams that support the achievement of the careers education program’s operational and strategic goals.</li><li>In collaboration with the relevant teams, lead and provide guidance to students and families as to how the curriculum, subject selection, learning frameworks and further education and training will support career decisions.</li><li>Explore and develop connections with industry and community to enhance students’ pathway awareness and selection experience, including the development of an Alumni Mentoring program.</li><li>Partner with local, interstate and international tertiary institutions and employers in broadening student perspectives regarding post-school opportunities.</li><li>Facilitate student transition from school into the next phase of life.</li><li>Please refer to the attached position description and College website for more information.</li></ul><p><b>About you</b></p><p>You value the opportunity to guide a young person&#39;s exposure to further education and career pathway opportunities, and can think creatively and strategically in enhancing these opportunities.<br /></p><p>The key selection criteria for this position are as follows:<br /></p><p><b>Essential:</b><br /></p><ul><li>Minimum Graduate Certificate in Careers Education and Development or equivalent, or extensive experience in careers and pathway education for young people.<br /></li><li>Extensive knowledge of further education pathways available following school, and an ability to explain entry criteria and processes.</li><li>Experienced in the identification and building of effective and purposeful teams and networks, and in establishing connections and partnerships in the community.</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse groups of young people.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to support the career development needs of students through face-to-face appointments, group workshops and the development of related resources.</li><li>Self-driven and forward thinking, with an ability to work independently and deliver on strategy and goals relevant to the position.</li><li>Excellent computer literacy and strong technology skills to support a high-quality career program experience for students, and the capacity to learn and utilise new online technologies as appropriate.</li><li>Proven ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks.</li></ul><p><b>Desirable</b></p><ul><li>Previous experience and understanding of secondary education, particularly in an all-girls school.<br /></li><li>Member of the Career Industry Council of Australia.</li></ul><p>This position requires a current Police Check (or VIT), Working with Children Check (or VIT) and drivers’ licence.
